Alphabet says it out loud in its own Code of Conduct: “We like cats, but we’re a dog company.”

Not a meme — it’s in the governance docs Google publishes for its investors.

Google even has a word for the dogs that come to the office: Dooglers. The dog park at the Mountain View campus is called the Doogleplex.

And the name is not ours either. Google’s CEO has a cream labradoodle called Jeffree, and in April 2024 he posted him with the caption “Best work partner” — the same dog he has been photographing around the office for years. This token is named after that dog. It is not run by him, and nothing he has posted is about it.
